Epithelioma of the base of the tongue should be operated on at the firststage of its growth—that is to say, before it has attained a large size-—and, ifat all possible, before any glandular infection has taken place. Diagnosisis easy, and is readily confirmed by sight and touch. This is also the casewith tumours of the tonsillar region. These tumours should be destroyed by thermic electro-coagulation. Theintervention is effected through the buccal route. OPERATIONS ON THE LINGUAL NERVE AND ON THENERVE TO THE BUCCINATOR MUSCLE. Resections of the lingual and buccinator nerves are carried out throughthe mouth. Those nerves pass at a very short distance from the neck of thewisdom tooth-—one inside,
