Black spot fungus (Diplocarpon rosae) on rose leaves (Rosa sp.). It is the most serious rose disease, but other plants are also susceptible. Black spot infects leaves and stems by producing spores (reproductive cells) in black lesions which spread in wet conditions. Infections are dormant in winter, and spread in the spring. It is treated with chemical fungicides such as difenoconazole or myclobutanil.
