Polling in the second phase areas of the local body elections in Jammu and Kashmir began at in the morning amid restrictions, and many of the municipal wards have been put under heavy second phase of the polls cover a total of 384 wards across 13 districts of the state, seven of which are in the Kashmir Valley according to official sources. National Conference and People's Democratic Party have abstained from the elections, while there has been calls for boycott by separatists along with alleged threats. Two National Conference members were killed by militants on Friday 5th October. According to police officials, the prevailing tense atmosphere in Kashmir have led to minimal campaigning by the candidates for the local bodies' elections
