Unit members formed a chain from the 10-ton military truck to the home to assist residents in accessing the needed medication after a severe storm flooded many homes within the county. 277th Eng. Co. Soldiers were charged with improving an estimated three mile stretch of roadway on Loma Alta Road and a little over two and a half miles of roadway on Palmetto Hill Road before the storm redirected the unit to water pumping operations until waters receded. Services provided by military personnel are done through the Department of Defense’s Innovative Readiness Training, a civil-military program that builds mutually beneficial partnerships between communities and the DoD.
