The kiln consumes % bbl. of oil per ton of calcined magnesiaobtained, wliich is reduced to B/r (Oo. The fuiisliod product is packed in paper-lined duck bags for Pacific Coast consumption, and in 4 00-pound paper-lined barrelsfor the eastern market. There are a few hundred tons of broken magnesite on thedumps of these tunnels and as float below. Besides the usual charac-teristics, specimens were found exhibiting parallel shrinkage cracks(see photo No. 179). Almost no drifting has been done so far, so thatthe continuity or the extent of these veins underground is as yet un-certain.
