Various Notes. Mt. and Mrs. Alfred L. Clifford, of Barnard, N. Y., left Rochester Wednes- day, November 9, and after a stay of two or three days in New York, will sail on the steamer Orbita Saturday, No- vember 12, for England, where they ex- pect to remain until the miul:ir. Arthur M. Newborn says that the de- mand for his Christmas baskets of dried helichrysum and grasses is considerably larger than in previous years. He lias been feeling unwell recently, suffering chiefly from sharp attacks of neuritis. Ill health has caused W. F. Quance, of Newark, N. Y., to lease his greenhouses to Jackson Perkins for a ])eriod of two years. Mr. Quance will retain the flower store. Business conditions in this city ;ire on the upward trend, and a good fall and winter business is looked for. The flo- rists are optimistic and all are looking for one of the best seasons ever. Green- house stock throughout the city and lo- cality is in excellent condition and there promises to be a big supply of Thanks- giving stock, botli cut and potted. The Christmas stock at present looks good. Thus far no particular shortage is no- ticed with any of the greenhouse men. H. J. H.
