Addams was the co-founder of Hull House in Chicago (a settlement house offering social and educational programs for poor immigrants) and a leading advocate for various social reforms such as women's suffrage and labour laws. She was also famous as an advocate for peace and was a founder of the Women's Peace Party and the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom. Photographer unknown.
