The peak of Chacaltaya (5,395m), which until 2009 had a glacier which supported the worlds highest ski lift at over 17,000 feet. The glacier finally disappeared completely in 2009 due to climate change induced melting. The slope in the background is where the glacier and ski run used to be. In the foreground is Adolfo Mendoza who used to look after the ski hut and still climbs the peak every day, to open up the ski club hut to tourists.
