She married Joseph Brubaker1825, and lived near the old home until 1836, when the familymoved to Term. In the spring of 1853 they left Tenn. inwagons and went to Iowa, a journey of nearly one thousandmiles. Here she died Catherine Brubaker Her appearance was striking, so much so as to attract at-tention. She was large, well formed and tall, with darkbrown eyes and brown hair. She possessed great energy andindustry with large executive and financial ability. She unitedwith the Dunkard Church when quite young. Her religiousconvictions were strong and she impressed them upon herdescendants so that there arc more of her posterity of herpersuasion than can be found in any other branch of thellarshbargcr family. IIcr great faith and courage were often displayed in thetrying circumstances of frontier life. She was a tower of r THE 105 strength in the home, in church work and in the temperancecause! Her hospitality was well known to all who enteredher door, llcr wit was gentle yet keen, her repartees quickand sharp and her insight into shams and deceptions detested evil and delighted in good.
