Frontal view of the 62m high Skogafoss Waterfall, Skogar, Southern Iceland
The 25m wide, 62m high Skogafoss Waterfall drops over the cliffs of the former coastline, 'springing up' after the release of billions of tonnes of ice weight at the end of the Pleistocene Ice Age, so creating a step in the gradient of the River Skoga and a clear border between the coastal lowlands and interior highlands of Southern Iceland. The figure at the foot of the fall gives an impression of scale.
