Peter Whitney in his History of Worcester County,1793, says: In this town is the country seat of the Hon. MosesGill, Esq., who has been from the year 1775 one of theJudges of the Court of Common Pleas for the County ofWorcester, and for several years a councillor of this Com-monwealth. His elegant and noble seat is about one mileand a quarter from the meeting house, to the south. Thefarm contains upwards of 3000 acres. The county roadfrom Princeton to Worcester passes through it in front ofthe house, which faces to the west. The buildings stand upon the highest land of the wholefarm; but it is level round about them for many rods, andthen theie is a very gradual descent. The land on whichthese buildings stand is elevated between 1200 and 1300 270. MOSKS CILL
