The artificial hatching of ducks is one of theinteresting industries of China, and has beencarried on extensively for hundreds of years. TheChinese are very fond of ducks and duck eggs,yet those in America are not far behind the Africo-Americans in their appetite for chicken. Most ofthe Chinese hatching houses are constructed ofbamboo, plastered with mud and thatched withstraw. The eggs are placed in baskets which havea tile bottom and a close straw cover.
