The unit re-deployed to JBMDL today after removing thousands of gallons of water from areas most effected as a result of Hurricane Sandy. Despite working in difficult weather conditions, the 401st, 410th and 431st Quartermaster Detachments, Army Reserve water purification units, utilized large pumps capable of pumping 600 gallons per minute to remove the water from areas most affected by Hurricane Sandy. Once the water is removed, necessary work will begin to restore utilities to the area. The unit is supporting the Federal Emergency Management Agency, state, local and city officials.
