Springbuck calf (Antidorcas marsupialis) resting on sand. A single young springbuck is born after a 6 month gestation period. This gazelle-like antelope inhabits the open dry plains of southern Africa, feeding on grass, leaves and shoots. The springbuck is the national emblem of South Africa, where it is known as the springbok. Photographed in the Northern Cape, South Africa, in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park.
