As a result of these changes theskin becomes dry, lusterless, loose and flabby. In some locali-ties the sweat glands exhibit greater activity and the characterof the secretion is changed. Pigment is deposited in the reteMalpighii, sometimes localized as ecchymotic spots on the hands,neck and other exposed portions of the body, sometimes coveringmore extensive areas.
