A late 19th Century illustration from the Book of Genesis of the Capture of Lot and his family. Lot was the son of Haran, who was Abraham’s younger brother who was taken prisoner by the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah while he was living in Sodom. When Abraham heard that his nephew had been taken prisoner, he gathered together 318 of his trained men, who had been born in his household, and they went out in pursuit, conquered his enemies, and brought Lot, together with his possessions, the women, and the other people.
