Keloid scar. Keloid scars on the arm, torso and base of the neck of a female patient. Keloid scars are made of a hard and irregular type of scar tissue which continues to grow even after the wound has healed. They often form where healing injuries, burns or surgical incisions are put under tension. Some individuals are more prone to keloid scarring than others, and it is common in black people. Treatment for small scars may involve steroid creams, but more advanced scars require surgical removal followed by radiotherapy.
