(Shipley) entered the Institute with the StevensSchool scholarship. He was mechanicaldraughtsman with the Atlas Cement Co.,Northampton, Pa., 1900; draughtsman, and. plant of the Carnegie Steel Co., Ltd., Home-stead, Pa., 1895-96; at the blast furnaces of. Marvin Shiebler later, salesman in the New York office ofthe B. F. Sturtevant Co., 1900-01; and wasemployed, successively as draughtsman, in-spector, and engineer, in the department ofconstruction at the Ravenswood works ofthe New Amsterdam Gas Co., Long IslandCity, N. Y., 1901-02; was constructing engi-neer with the New York Mutual Gas LightCo., 1902-04; and has been assistant engi-neer with the Consolidated Gas Co., of NewYork, from 1904 to date. He is a junior mem-ber of the American Society of MechanicalEngineers, and a member of the CrescentAthletic Club, and of the Chi Psi fraternity. ?
