Favites sp. coral fluorescing under blue light. This coralis also known as moon coral or pineapple coral. A transparent shrimp can be seen top middle. Some species of coral emit a fluorescent glow. It is thought the glow may attract symbiotic algae, or protect the coral from the intense ultraviolet light of the sun in shallow water. Photographed in the Red Sea, Egypt.
