Neck and brain aneurysms. Coronal magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) scan of aneurysm swellings in the neck and brain arteries of a 37-year-old patient. This MRA scan combines 2D and 3D imagery, and a contrast medium has highlighted the blood vessels. The scan has revealed lesions on the vertebral arteries and the right internal carotid artery, and at the the carotid bulb area. Aneurysms are swellings caused by the weakening of the walls of blood vessels, and if they rupture can cause death or strokes.
