Decorative Fountain in the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul
A decorative fountain built into wall of the Library of Ahmet III in the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. Built in the 15th Century by Sultan Mehmet II the Tokapi Palace occupies a vast site on a hilltop overlooking Istanbul and the Bosphorus. The palace was constructed as a series of pavillions contained within four large courtyards. The layout is said to echo the tented communities of the formerly nomadic Ottomans. The palace was to remain the main residence of the Ottoman sultans for almost four centuries. The library is a separate building within the palace complex and was constructed in 1719.
