General Exterior View, dusk. The Foundry, Social Justice Centre, London, United Kingdom. Architect: Architecture00, 2015.

The Foundry was established by the Social Justice and Human Rights Centre Company Limited; made up of the Ethical Property Company and a number of leading Trusts and Foundations. Together they identified the need to support social justice and human rights organisations through the provision of a purpose built centre. Situated between the Oval and Vauxhall tube stations the property is a large Edwardian industrial building, built in 1902. Full planning permission was granted in early 2013, with the designs by Architecture00 incorporating the sympathetic refurbishment of the original building and the creation of a substantial modern extension. The centre boasts 2,900m² of office space with communal facilities, a conference hall and six meeting rooms, exhibition space and a cafe. Designed to be energy efficient and accessible, the building was awarded an Excellent BREEAM rating in April 2015. In May 2015 the building was named the RIBA ‘London Building of the Year’ .
