He M-asbrevetted for gallant service at Williamsburg, Goldens Farm, andAntietam. He was re-elected to the Thirty-ninth, Fortieth, andForty-first Congresses. He served on the Committee on Claims, theCommittee on Public Buildings and Grounds, and the Committee onMilitary Affiiirs. Although a ready and fluent speaker, he did notoften address the House. His speech on Impeachment was an ablereview of the acts which in his opinion rendered President Johnsonworthy of impeachment and removal from office. 246.
