Pelican audience GREECE COMEDIC images show Dalmatian pelicans having a gala time on Lake Kerkini in northern Greece. One close-up image of the pelican gives the illusion of the bird on the verge of swallowing the camera. The Dalmatian pelican is the largest member of the pelican family and perhaps the world's largest freshwater bird. They have a huge wingspan that can reach lengths of feet and average around 30 pounds, rivalling those of the great albatrosses. The pelicans? total weight is about 20 pounds. These pictures were captured by British wildlife photographer Sean Weekly (34) with a Canon R5 camera paired with various lenses from a 300mm to a 16-35mm wide angle. ?I have been visiting them every winter for the last seven years,? he said. ?We were on a boat on the lake when a group of pelicans landed on top of its canopy, and I used the opportunity to get some close-up images. ?I stood at the front of the boat and lifted my camera up to get some shots. Unbeknownst to me, a pelican had scooted a lot closer, and as I lifted my camera up he decided to peck it. ?Having a wide-angle lens attached to my camera gave me the unique image of the pelican eating the camera. ?Charismatic pelicans paired up with snow-capped mountains made the area look like a prehistoric ENDS
