Hilda Hempl Heller (born 1891), US bacteriologist. Heller worked at the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago, USA. This photograph was taken at a scientific meeting in Toronto, Canada, in August 1924. Born Hilda Hempl, she married zoologist Edmund Heller (1875-1939) in 1918 and she accompanied him on three of his expeditions, including trips to Peru and the Amazon. They divorced in 1928, and she continued to carry out field work in Peru.
