Government House isbuilt on the site of Lobengulas old kraal, andwas originally erected as a residence for thelate Mr. Rhodes. In the grounds we saw thefamous tree under which Lobengula dispensedjustice, or more probably brutalities on a largescale.

Although it was the late afternoon of acloudy day, I was most fortunate in getting agood photograph of that famed tree, which musthave been a witness of many terrible tragediesin bygone times. We have now seen all thatis interesting about Bulawayo, and are goingon to the Falls to-morrow morning. 128 Diary of a Tour in South Africa.
