The Leather Bottle and The Street, in Cobham, Kent, England

The oldest parts of the Leather Bottle in Cobham date from 1629, the name apparently deriving from the discovery there of a leather bottle full of gold coins in 1720. It has strong connections with Charles Dickens; the author lived much of his life in the area, and knew both Cobham and the Leather Bottle well, staying there at least once. He also used it as the setting for an episode in the 'Pickwick Papers', where it is described as "a clean and commodious village ale-house".
