The Postcanines The spatulate crowns stand obliquely to the long axis of the skull; they are triangular in outline with sharp edges and are coarsely serrate. The outer face is convex and the inner fairly flat. The last five are appreciably smaller than their predecessors in the series. The postcanines are implanted on the inner upper edge of the dentary with a shallow groove externally for the reception of the upper postcanines. C (fig. 13B). A weathered anterior part of the dentary shows the roots of all four functional incisors, but all four have reached the age at which they are to be shed. Lingually of each is a large empty alveolus from which the replacing.
