Pyper to direct extensiveactivities in that field of the Pyper, a fluent Maori speaker,is well qualified for the complex situa-tions that will arise in this Missiondue to the Maori and Pakeha con-dition which Elder Pyper Before beginning his work in NewZealand he had previously been a mis-sionary in California, as well as amongthe Japanese of the Hawaiian arriving here in early .April of1949 he was assigned to the ManawatnDistrict for six months before beingcalled to be the District President ofWhangarei. His experiences there willprove to be of much value to Mini inhelping our Maori people with theirwhakapapa. Snelgrove has recently been calledto labour in the King Country Dis-trict. Elder Snelgrove directed thelarge-scale Programme at HuiTau this year. Prior to Hui Tau hetoured the Mission in an earnest at-tempt to better standards andprocedure in Districts and out-of-the-way Branches. After arriving aboard the MarinePhoenix in July of 1948, he was as-signed to the Waika
