Boats on Killaloe canal, by river Shannon, Killaloe, Co Clare Ireland
Boats at anchor in Killaloe canal adjacent to the river Shannon at the southern extremity of Lough Derg. The bridge connects Killaloe in Co Clare with Ballina in Co Tipperary. The canal was originally opened in 1799 to bypass rapids, but became redundant in 1929 when Lough Derg was flooded and raised the level of the river building to the right is the Brian Boru Heritage Centre.
