Eastleigh Hampshire Friday 3rd June 2016 A Woman in her sixties has been rushed to hospital in a serious condition after a crash on the M3. Six people have been treated by paramedics after the smash involving three vehicles between junctions 13 and 12 for Eastleigh. The motorway is still heavily congested with tailbacks are stretching up to eight miles down the M27 westbound. Motorists heading north and south on the M3 are also experiencing long delays as traffic begin to build during the rush hour commute. The woman, believed to be in her sixties has been taken to Southampton General Hospital in a serious condition. A man has also been taken to Royal South Hants Hospital but the severity of his injuries is not yet known. Motorists were warned to avoid the area this morning after the crash just before 10am. Two lanes were closed and a red traffic alert lasted until All lanes have now been open but queues are still tailing back eight miles to junction 7 of the M27. The motorway is still heavily congested in both directions with delays of around half an hour. A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary confirmed they were on the scene with ambulance crews and firefighters. He said: “We were called at this morning to a three vehicle collision and the incident is ongoing.” A spokeswoman for South Central Ambulance said: “We were called at to the M3 northbound at Chandler’s Ford to a road traffic collision. “We sent out Hazardous Area Response team, two ambulance crews and two ambulance officers. “The crash involved two cars and a van and we were treating six patients. Four patients were treated at the scene and didn’t need hospital treatment.
