'Humphry Duke of Gloucester', (1909). Artist: Jacques Leboucq.
'Humphry Duke of Gloucester', (1909). Humphrey Duke of Gloucester (1391-1447), the first notable patron of England's humanists, was the fourth son of King Henry IV of England by his first wife, Mary de Bohun. Although he was known as the 'good Duke Humphrey', his inept political dealings cast doubt on the appropriateness of the title.
