Giant Domino Circuit in Marseille, France. Marseille, France's second city, has been the latest setting for a mammouth domino circuit linking the city's main train station to the old port. The brain-child of British artist Julian Maynard Smith, of Station Opera House, the installation follows similar events in London, Copenhagen, Helsinki and elsewhere. From Saint Charles Station the route followed narrow streets in the old town, passed through offices and apartments, negociated a plane tree and a white van, before meandering through the historic Jardin des Vestiges, and on to the old port. After Smith and a band of volunteers spent a day installing almost 8000 concrete dominoes, the falling blocks took just half-an-hour to complete the two-kilometer circuit.
