Sgt. John de Boer, Regimental Intelligence Sergeant, is seen in this photograph taken during World War One. Sgt. de Boer, age 22, weighing 175 pounds and standing at 6 feet tall, served in the 126th Infantry, 32nd Division. He hailed from Kalamazoo, Michigan, with Dutch parents. Sgt. de Boer impressed his superiors with his sense of duty and reliability, and his knowledge of German assisted his superior officers. The photo was taken on April 15, 1919, by Lt. NL Dewell.
