Silvio Berlusconi has been the subject of criminal proceedings , none of which ended with a sentence final sentence because of acquittals, declarations of prescription and decriminalization of the offense. Some of these cases were closed during the investigation phase, as a result of others have been initiated a trial in which Berlusconi was acquitted . In other jobs, finally, they were delivered at first instance or on appeal, the judgments of conviction for crimes such as corruption, legal, illegal financing of political parties and false accounting . In some countries, Berlusconi has benefited from legislation passed by the parliamentary majority led by himself: such measures, which have attracted intense political controversy, have been defined ad personam "laws . In these cases, the outcome after a negative first instance to Berlusconi, the case had not ended with a conviction: that with acquittals on appeal, the recognition of mitigating circumstances (which, by affecting the determination of the sentence , led to the onset of limitation ), or new rules, final approval of parliament from the center-right, which amended the penalties and the structure of certain crimes to which he objects, such as the crime of false accounting . Those rules, in some cases, have not imposed an assessment of criminal relevance of some of the facts alleged, because the fact is no longer required by law as a crime, in other cases, however, the relative reduction of penalties for new offenses meant that the statute of limitations ripen before it was delivered a final ruling.
