This change was necessary because the original point moved in conjunction with a large soil slump arising from the irrigation of cropland on the adjacent upland bench. The original 'side creek bottom' is Warm Spring Creek, not the Judith River mentioned by Phillips in 1959. Shizachyrium scoparium has continued to decline along the upland, whereas a more mesic vegetation complex, dominated by Spartina pectinata, has developed in the bottomlands in conjunction with the construction of a small reservoir after 1959.
