The Lancaster County Florists' Club held its monthly meeting Thursday, February 17, at the Hotel Brunswick, with more than sixty attending, who were the guests of B. F. Barr. A splen- did dinner was served. The visitors from out of town were W. K. Harris, Jr., Mark Mills, Kobert Kift, S. S. Pen- nock, of Philadelphia; Edmond Mar- shall and J. Howard Thompson, of Ken- nett 8quare, and Henry Eichholz, of Waynesboro, all of whom addressed the club. Mr. Eichholz read a carefully prei^ared paper on '' Raising New Novel- ties of ; Eight new members were elected. A short discussion of the proposed Novem- ber chrysanthemum show revealed the almost unanimous api)roval of the mem- bers, and indications point to a success- ful show. President W. B. Girvin ap- pointed the following committees for 1921: Program, L. S. Landis, Chas. B. Herr and J. Lloyd Weaver; visiting, Ira H. Landis, A. F. Strickler and John H. Schoenberger; exhibition, Frank A. Suter, Eudolph Nagel and J. Wade Gay- ley; glad hand, H. K. Rohrer, John F. Moore and W. R. Denlinger. The following ladies won prizes dur- ing the evening: Mrs. J. Butter Hess, Mrs. De Hertogh, Mrs. Elmer J. Weaver, Mrs. R. Nagel and Mrs. L. S. Landis. Prior to the meeting a visit was made" to Elmer J. Weaver's and Chas. M. Weaver's greenhouses. Chas. M. Weaver is a specialist on peas and has all the good ones and many of Burpee's newer ones on trial. Elmer J. has a large house, planted with Pilgrim roses, that has attracted florists from all parts of the east. This variety as grown by Mr. Weaver is a " top-notcher" and sur- passed by none of its color. Carnations were in fine condition, the plants having been in all summer. Benora and White Benora were exceptionally fine. Avia- tor, Matchless and Ward are standards and well grown. In new varieties Lassie and Red Head seem to leave nothing
