Hall opened the convention Wednesday morning at Rochester. N. Y., introducing Mayor H. H. Edgerton, who welcomed' the growers to the city. In his annual address President Hall mentioned cer- tain needs of the association. One of the most conspicuous of these is a bureau of information on crpp and market conditions. The president recommended the appointment of a committee to consider the advisability of establishing such a bureau for the benefit of the members only. The af- ternoon session was devoted to ad- dresses and discussions on crop com- binations and rotation. Addresses were made by H. F. Thompson of At- tleboro. and Professor R. I^. Watts of Pennsylvania State College. At the close of this session the ladies attending the convention were invited by the local association to an auto trip through the city. "Theory and Practice in Vegetable Breeding" was Dr. H. J. Webber's during the evening. O. G. Bishop of Pontiac, Mich., and E. W. Catchpole of North Watts: "Our Ladies," by S. W. Sever- ance; "How Can Our Legislature Benefit Our Association?" by G. F. Argetsinger. AVillis K. Gillette was toastrtnaster. During Friday morning's session Chauncey West spoke on "Soil Fer- tilization" and Professor W. J. AVright, director of the New York Slate Col- lege of Agriculture. Alfred. N. gave a lecture on "Some Special Points in Greenhouse Building and ; • FoUowing the lectures a general discussion took place on such greenhouse problems as water- ing, packing, marketing, etc. The election of officers also took place at this meeting. All the officers were re- elected with the exception of Secre- tary S. W. Severance, who declined the nomination. .,The office was filled by E. A. Dunbar of Ashtabula. Ohio.
