St. Andrews Episcopal Church. increased that a new meeting-place becamean absolute necessity. A house in Long-acre was secured, and the Bishop fitted upthe two upper floors for the chapel, theunder floor being reserved for himself andhis family. It was in this building that agreat event took place — an event evermemorable in the annals of Episcopacy inAberdeen. On Sunday, 14th November,1784, the chapel was the scene of the con-secration of Dr. Samuel Seabury as the firstBishop of the United States of 1884 the Seabury Centenary was cele-brated by special services, which attractedwidespread attention ; and it may be men-tioned that every year brings tourists fromAmerica to visit the historic church inAberdeen which is the present-day repre-sentative of the Upper Room in BishopSkinners Chapel in Longacre. Soon afterthe repeal of the penal laws, the continuedincrease of the Bishops congregation re-quired the erection of another
