Volcanic ash & cinder strata on west side of 6310m Volcan Chimborazo Ecuadors highest peak Chimborazo Province Central Highlands

An eroded gully shows the clear boundary between layers of later volcanic ash and cinder tephra strata deposited onto an older eroded surface of small volcanic airborne ejecta. This flank of Chimborazo has a unique type of Andean high paramo known as puna made dry by the rain shadow of the mountains.
