Knight of the Order of the Black Eagle, the highest order of chivalry in the Kingdom of Prussia.


The Order of the Black Eagle was the highest order of chivalry in the Kingdom of Prussia, founded in 1701 by Elector Friedrich III of Brandenburg. The ceremonial robes included a red velvet cape with blue lining, with an embroidered star on the left shoulder. Handcolored copperplate engraving of a knight from a religious military order from Robert von Spalart's "Historical Picture of the Costumes of the Principal People of Antiquity and of the Middle Ages" (1796).
