Tyler Ensley, Shock Trauma Platoon, Logistics Combat Element, Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force – Crisis Response – Central Command, signs the paperwork that initiates a walking blood bank that took place while in the Middle East Nov. 14, 2017. When blood is needed quickly in large amounts, or rare types are needed, a walking blood bank is activated and volunteers are gathered rapidly. The volunteers are processed, their blood is drawn and quickly taken to the operating room and transfused into the patient.
