The Duke of York, The future King George VI (1895-1952), with the mayors of Deptford and Greenwich at the opening of Margaret McMillan House, 1936. Margaret McMillan House was the first purpose-built outdoor centre and was created in memory of nursery school pioneer Margaret McMillan (1860-1931). The centre is now part of the Widehorizons charity, which delivers a range of adventure based activities.
