Thatwas the time when the goose-quill flourished, and the indi-vidual was held in high esteemwho possessed the genius tomake a first-class pen. In those years, the writing-teacher traveled from town totown, and secured excellentpatronage from the fact that thewriting-school was the onlyplace where the student couldwith certainty learn to write.
