A Roman greave, 2nd/3rd century Essentially undecorated, brass greave with a central ridge. Offset borders along the edges with four riveted flaps and large rings for fastening the straps. A recess on top for attaching the knee-guard hinge, and extended ankle protection at the lower end. Length 36 cm. Weight 135 g. The metal is very well preserved, with some backing and restorations on the rim and lower end. Axel Guttmann Collection (R 69/AG 307).
