Striding across the wild open spaces of Mar Lodge Estate you’ll experience a unique sense of freedom. Located in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, the 29,380ha (72,598a) estate takes in 15 Munros (mountains over 3,000ft), including four of the five highest mountains in the UK. Walkers can choose from a wide range of routes – from low-lying woodland and riverside walks, to the high tops and long-distance walks such as the Lairig Ghru leading to Speyside. The main access point is the Linn of Dee car park, with nearby walks offering stunning views of a scenic gorge. During the summer months the ranger service offers a variety of guided walks to suit all abilities. The estate is recognised as one of the most important nature conservation landscapes in the British Isles. Part of the estate lies within the Cairngorms National Nature Reserve, and a number of sites have been designated Sites of Special Scientific Interest.
