Mowbray Park Sunderland
Mowbray Park in Sunderland is one of the oldest municipal parks in the North East of England. The park was opened by local MP John Candlish in 1857. The park was named after the previous land owners the Mowbray family. Having fallen in to a degree of neglect after WWII when the area had been subject to considerable bomb damage the park was significantly restored in the 1990's and reopened in 2000.
