But I am goingto give my poet the fullest justice in assuming thathe meant to imply that he would prefer to be theHunters butterfly to any other in creation; for inthis insect we have in truth the one butterfly that isliterally born in a bower. Its bower is composed of petals and other parts offlowers, and hangs among the blossoms of the commoneverlasting (GnapJialinvi decurrens). It is occasionallyalmost concealed among the flowers, but may often befound quite conspicuously displayed, and three to fourinches in length. If we take a walk in the grassy road, in the pasturelot, or mountain path, we may now find dozens of them.
