The wreck of the Dmitry (also spelled Dimitry & Dimitry) from Narva, now Estonia, aground on Tate hill Beach, Whitby, Yorkshire, UK in 1885. The writer Bram Stoker used the incident transforming the ship as the Demeter from Varna, which brought the vampire, Count Dracula to Britain in his famous novel. In mythology Demeter is the Olympian Goddess of agriculture, birth, fertility of the earth and has close connections with the underworld
