From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: In 1889 Martti "Nakambale"Rautanen built the first church in the north of Namibia and in 1893 a house for missionaries. Until now these buildings exist. In 1992 they were made a national monument. Those building are now maintained by the Evangelic and Lutheran Church of Namibia (ELCIN). They were refurbished in 1992 and 1995 respectively with the help of the Finish Government. The camp started operation in 1995 and is located 13 km south west of the regional town of Ondangwa. It consists of 5 traditional huts, 5 permanent tents and a spacious camping area. Plans to expand the campsite and rest camp is underways as the number of tourists are increasing. The permanent tents will be removed and will build rooms and toilets. All this will be financed by the Finnish Government.
